Little things

Little things

Little things

A simple story of past recollections and nostalgia

A simple story of past recollections and nostalgia

A simple story of past recollections and nostalgia

Read this Netflix title for a second keeping the plot aside.Hmmm...“Little things”..What goes through your mind when you hear it?Here’s my thought train.Childhood stories and laughter

I recently travelled for a vacation with an itinerary of all the important things to do that would require well-in-advance reservations, a good camera to record the memory, things to see and do in all the crowded touristy places…Everyone plans these things while traveling. Although, Have you ever felt “I thought this would feel, um, a whole lot different?!”Me and my family got back after long days of roaming around to sit down (every night before sleeping) and reminisce. Not just about how that day went, but we talked about our childhoods. I’ve heard their past stories many many times. I’d still listen to those mouth agape, full of wonder.Let’s bring out the pensieve and my uncle’s memory vials shall we?!

Me everytime I see water in a pot

20 years back, Vanuvampet church road had one bus stand and some horse carriages for transport from there

  1. The crowded market roads of today’s Nanganallur used to be my uncle’s cricket ground

  2. People climbed up water tanks to sit and chat about life every evening because they didn’t have phones or gadgets to consume their time

  3. My family didn’t have a landline 40 years ago. Only one house on the street had a landline and they receive all the calls and pass on messages.

  4. The land our home stands on today was a vast stretch of farm land that was uninhabitable up until a few years ago

  5. My mother’s generation’s idea of vacation was visiting relatives who live close by and playing every night until their body gave in

Now let’s dive into my mind

  1. Every time my relatives visit us, we all play games all day everyday and watch movies we can make fun of ;)

  2. We eat our dinner up on the terrace under the moonlight

  3. We chat all night, giggling and exchanging stories of how we used to be

This can list can take longer than the story of how ted met his wife but..

they sure are precious 💫

Why do the expensive experiences never come to mind when we think of happy moments? It’s not about how flashy the experience was or how much we spend. The right people around us make everything better don’t they?! Here’s to them 🥂

What do you think of when you hear “Little Things”?

I am glad I was reminded of such warm memories recently ;) Let’s turn a page again in the little things chapter sometime soon!
